In Ticino, the tradition of Carnival is extremely heartfelt. It is a celebration linked to the territory, to the
entertainment, music and gastronomy to which Ticino people are initiated from childhood. But actually in the
Canton carnivals are multiplying, and not only in the big city centers: almost every small town has its own
characteristic carnival. Ticino also has a reputation for being one of the cantons in

Rabadan (Ticino's most famous ruler).
In Ascona , Carnival is celebrated on Shrove Tuesday (Feb. 21) on the town's beautiful lakefront, with a
traditional dish, risotto with luganiga.
